You do not have to use bold tags in your title. All titles are AUTOMATICALLY IN BOLD.
<<Added April 8th, 2005>>
A new rule. It will now be an install as a copy-and-paste-as-is basis. So if you say, "I'd like a custom title with a glowing fusia with italics." it'd ignored... or if you request something like:
Bwargle!
You won't get the emoticons. The proper way would be to use img src, typing out the URLs. If you do not know how to do this, refer to here. Text converting to emoticons DO NOT WORK with custom titles. If you ignore this, then you'll have to hope HSW feels like doing the work FOR you, which he does to make my job a little more convenient but he doesn't have to.

As a registered user of Sonic HQ Community, you are entitled to request a custom title, if you so wish. What a custom title does is replace the standard 'ranking' level (one of these) with a little personalized snippet of your choosing.
Who Can Request A Custom Title? Any registered user may request a title. (To be considered registered with this community, you must have an Ezboard account - local or global, doesn't matter - and have posted at least one message anywhere on the community.)
How To Request A Custom Title? First, review the rules below, and then, simply post a reply to this topic stating the title you'd like. It's that simple!
Is My Custom Title Applied Automatically? No. A community administrator must approve and fulfill all title requests by hand. Keep in mind that I, Eric, am not an administrator and I will not be setting your titles - I just check to make sure the titles are in compliance with the rules (below), and if not, make any necessary edits.
Rules For Custom Title Requests
Requesting: Please request titles in this thread only. Title requests will not be accepted, and will probably be deleted, if posted elsewhere on the community.
Width: The left pane of the topic display table consits of only 20% of its entire width. Additionally, Ezboard has set up their code such that a long title, rather than automatically wrapping to additional lines, will simply stretch the table out and wonk out everything. Therefore, use the date and time as a guide by copying and pasting it and comparing it to your title:
(12/12/12 12:12:12 am)
If your title is significantly longer, you must add
tags in the appropriate places to break your title up into separate lines. If you do not, they will be added for you as seen fit by myself.
Height: Multi-line titles are acceptable (see "Width" above), but also consider that a 30-line title will create a lot of blank space at the bottoms of your posts, generally wasting everyone's screen real estate and creating the requirement for needless scrolling. Please, keep it under 10 lines - and that's a maximum.
Fancy Formatting: If you know HTML code and wish to insert it into your title, that's fine. However, the following are not permitted:
- Client-Side Scripts (script tag)
- Embedded objects (embed tag)
- Scrolling marquees (marquee tag)
- Inline frames (iframe tag)
- Others, as may be deemed necessary on an individual basis (all title requests are subject to review).
You may also use images (<img src="your-image-url-here">), but keep them relatively SMALL! No bigger than 60x60, the standard personal photo size. Come on, putting a big image in is basically like having another personal photo in there to waste space, there's no need for that.
Also, if you want HTML, you must write it out yourself. Please don't say "I want such and such title, and can I have it in bold with a mauve color..." See above if this is violated.
Ezcodes will not work correctly in custom titles. Please use HTML instead. If you format your title request with Ezcodes, we will convert them to HTML as best we can.
Another important note: When employing any sort of HTML in your title request, always make sure you pick "Plain Text" formatting for your request post!
Request Format: Please type out your entire title on one line. We understand that it's much easier to use extra spacing and formatting when working with HTML, and that's fine, but if you use it, please delete it all - "squish it down", if you will - before you post the request. It's much easier for the titles to be applied when all your text and HTML (br tags included) are on one line in your request post. For example:
This Is My Title!
<table style="filter:glow(color=blue,strength=+4);"><tr><td><font color=yellow>Yay for Custom Titles!</font></td></tr></table>
Not like this:
This Is My Title!
<table style="filter:glow(color=blue,strength=+4);">
<tr>
<td>
<font color=yellow>Yay for Custom Titles!</font>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
Inappropriate Content: The same rules apply to custom titles as do to the forums. Nothing inappropriate, obscene, or offensive. Other than that, pretty much anything goes. Inanity is fine, just keep it brief.
Testing: If you're wondering how your title works or if it's been applied yet, USE PREVIEW MODE. Thanks.
Application Intervals: Speaking of wondering whether or not your title has yet been applied - please, BE PATIENT with these! Only the admins may set them, and they all happen to be very busy people. Titles are assigned in batches, and the appropriate admin will make a post in this thread when a batch has been finished, so you'll know. As a rule, plan to wait up to a month to have a custom title set (usual is 2-3 weeks), especially if your request is soon after the latest "Done with a batch" post. Sometimes it will take longer, sometimes not as long. But please don't complain that your title isn't applied yet; it isn't that big of a deal. If your custom title has an HTML bug, it will be fixed ASAP.
Mod Stars (community moderators only): If you wish to have the row of shiny silver stars as part of your title, insert the following HTML where you want them:
