It's just a thought that suddenly occured to me.
- Does Sonic have anything that he dislikes himself for? I have yet to notice if he does.
- Sonic has all these envy-able powers, and he can use them to beat a bad-guy single-handedly. People can get the impression that Sonic BARELY had to train to use these powers for good.
- The anime sorta shows Amy easily forgiving Sonic if he does not give her her way. That kinda screams Gary-Stuism. (Unless we're supposed to blame it on her childish crush.)
- If I notice anything else, I'll add it to the list. But this is all I can remember for now.
I disagree, sir.
-So he has a good sense of self-esteem. A good number of characters have this and they aren't considered Gary Stus. To name a few: Spiderman, The Sailor Scouts, Ash Ketchum, Phoenix Wright and Rouge (The Bat). They don't hate themselves and that in no way makes them overbearingly perfect.
- They're not THAT great. I mean sure, he's freaking fast and he can cut through a bunch of stuff but that's not exactly God-like. He's just as fragile as anyone else if he gets hit (Mephiles killed him with a single energy beam shot.) and that spin-dash of his doesn't go through anything. If they did, Boss Fights would be easy as hell. He usually has to exploit weak points.
-Well, she does have a crush on him and I doubt he did anything inhumane to her... it's pretty easy to forgive someone if it's not too serious. I don't see how it screams Gary Stu... unless you mean he's too likable. Which is wrong. Knuckles doesn't trust Sonic enough to not beleive Eggman when he lies to him, Rouge and Shadow both called him a loud-mouth in battle and in Sonic Adventure even Tails is annoyed when Sonic ignores him, stating "I hate when he doesn't listen." Hell, Amy Rose chased him around in Riders when he pissed her off somehow. Everyone seems to dislike him if only a little for some trait of his.
