Sarah Palin will be a non-issue in four years. So, JC, if ya think your so smart who do you think will be the likely nominees for the Repubs in four years time. Simple, Likely to be Senator(and Former Governor) of New York, George Pataki. Likely to be Governor of New York(and former Mayor of NYC) Rudy Giuliani. Both the Governorship and the Junior Senator position in NY are held by extremely weak politicians and the only person in the NY Democratic party that can mount a decent chance against either of these two is the current NY Attorney General Andrew Cuomo. However, he can only run against one(and I believe he has aspirations towards the Governorship, not the Senate). The last major repub who I think is likely to run is Former Governor Jeb Bush of Florida. Sure, he's the ex-President's brother but his popular governorship in Florida is likely to outshine his brother's bad name. Plus coming from a large early primary state is tons of help for anyone. Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, might also run. Oh, and Obama is likely to drop Biden when he's running for reelection. The man is a gaffe machine from a safe state. Obama will likely pick a Dem from a red state for VP next time.

There is no way a person named Bush sniffs the presidency for 100 years. I suspect their nominee would be Romney. Maybe I should be glad religious fundamentalists are less inclined to support other kinds of religious fundamentalists; I would guess that holds back the influence of religion to some extent. This reminds me a Simpsons episode I saw a while ago (not long after being diagnosed with diabetes) where one of the scenes was of Catholics and Protestants pointing paintball guns at each other and Bart saying something like "come on guys it's Christianity either way" and another character said "yeah we should focus on the real enemies of Christianity, like stem cells." It made me think, "on second thought, maybe it's better that they're so divided amongst each other"; call me selfish if you will, but so much division within a religion means more of their energy is focused on other branches of that religion, and less of it on the kinds of things that would affect those of us who refuse to conform to any of it. What's that phrase again? Don't interrupt an enemy when they're making a mistake?
