the times already spoilered me online when i read an article on it. someone was a bit bugged that a guest got to promote a product in the show. o.o

But it allowed the guest to poke fun at the furore around Clarkson & May's drink driving on ice. I will give it to the guest, he has quite a sense of
humour. I'd almost forgive him for certain "accidents"...

*Spent the entire morning explaining to Trish who Shumacher was and why I think he is a dirty rotten piece of trash, despite his tremendous racing talent*
I shall never forgive or forget. Hill deserved that win. |

Hill deserved both of them.
At least the commentators never held back on how "accidental" they thought both incidents were.

Don't worry Jin, we're talking about another amazing sport that America deprives itself of because it's too action packed for commercial
interuption.
And thanks to some greedy bastards who are opposing a budget restriction on teams to make the game more even, the sport probably wont exist soon. At least in no way close to the way it does now. (Context: Schumacher crashes into people who have a chance of beating him)

I don't have tv anymore, nor do I bother watching it that much, but I do remember watching a few F1 races before and actually enjoying them. Though most of
my memories of them was the race at Indy where like all but 3 or 4 cars dropped out from some kind of tire deal... I long forgot what it was about but I think
a topic like this was made on the board...

I never heard of him crashing into people before, although i never watched the whole of one of those races when they were on the telly. too repetative. ^^;

If I recall correctly, he couldn't get ahead of Hill, who would have therefore won points that would have taken the driver's championship away from Schumacher, so, not being able to get ahead, he rammed him instead. Result: both of them out of the race with nul points, Schumacher stays ahead in the championship and "wins". As Sam said, commentators were spitting nails... DW

And he did the exact same thing the next year, too.
Two years after that (neither of them won the next year), he mistimed the move and ended up crashing off himself, giving his rival the championship. You can see two of the incidents here (in the first, Schumacher was leading by one point, and only needed to stop Hill from finishing), complete with scathingly unsympathetic reaction from the commentator when the third goes wrong, since the guy has a reputation for that trick. But the number of times the rules were bent for whatever team Schumacher was driving for at the time beggars belief - remember that time when he won a race from the pit lane because there was nothing in the rulebook that said that he couldn't serve his ten second penalty after the race? The time when his team'd been removing the safety filters from the fuel rig to save time and Jos Verstappen's car caught fire in the pit lane when the unfiltered fuel spilled (note: Verstappen himself escaped with just burns around the eye area that wasn't protected by his helmet or overalls - the neighbouring pit crew ran over to pat out several burning mechanics who were rolling on the floor) - and the F1 governing body took no action?

Wow. If they honestly took no action at all from that... what exactly is the F1 head doing?
I mean, by no means am I knowledgable in F1, but I've at least heard Shumacher's name before, and his name seems to be lapped up rather consistently... But seriously, NO ONE has said anything about that? Frankly, I must say the wtf meter is having a field day. |

Believe me, those're random lowlights. He wasn't a popular chap.
The team that removed the fuel filters claimed that they'd been told that they were allowed to do so, and everything went very quiet...
