I heard about the abrupt death of Michael Jackson several hours ago while I was still in my bed. My mum told me that Michael Jackson had died and at first I thought she was just messing with me (even though she doesn't usually mess around with me like that). I was (and still am) shocked by this news yet not surprised by it..... if you know what I mean.

I think Michael Jackson had such a diverse personality that I just don't know where to begin when it comes to describing it. This news about the death of Michael Jackson will resonate throughout modern history and I feel that his death is going to someday become something akin to this current generation's equivalent of the death of Elvis Presley. Though Michael Jackson the man was deeply flawed, Michael Jackson the musician was breathtakingly perfect. Indeed, it was Michael's complete and utter drive for perfection when it came to refining his chosen art forms that shall be his lasting legacy..... or such is my sincere hope anyway.

He will certainly be remembered for the accusations of child molestation and just the numerous controversies in general which dogged both his career and his overall life, but I have no doubt whatsoever in my mind that he will also be remembered for the musical genius that he was and STILL IS. I grew up as a fan of Michael Jackson and though I by no means consider myself one of his hardcore fans, I still immensely enjoyed his beautiful songs (who could forget Thriller, which REMAINS the highest selling album of all time?), his iconic dancing (the moon-walk shall FOREVER remain his signature dance move) and his intense performances in general?

Obviously Michael Jackson had flaws, that is undeniable, but it is at least EQUALLY undeniable that ALL of us fellow human beings have flaws. Indeed, if we lacked flaws, we would simply not be human beings. However, in Michael Jackson's case, I SINCERELY and FIRMLY believe that his strengths both outnumbered and outpowered his weaknesses. He was a man who was extraordinarily charismatic and extremely enigmatic. He was as gentle as he was wild. I know it's a predictable cliche, but he was, in many ways, a genuinely tortured soul throughout his relatively short sojourn of 50 years on this planet. He came from a fractured family that was deeply divided and experienced a sudden transition from dire poverty to abundant wealth. He has been haunted throughout his life by a starving media circus and mobbed by his many fanatical fans. Michael Jackson was and is a household name and most people who know his name either love him or hate him. He had an incredibly polarising personality. There really was no 'in-between' when it came to Michael Jackson (usually, anyway). It was either one extreme or the other. Michael Jackson is celebrated as the 'King Of Pop' (and deservedly so, in my opinion) and it was his sheer drive for artistic perfection which ignited his career into the passionate flames of superstardom, yet, ironically, it seems that it was also this very same drive for perfection which led him to his untimely death. Michael Jackson was due to do 50 final shows in London, one for each of the 50 years of his life up until that point. He appeared to be very cheerful and enthusiastic about doing these shows in front of the ever-watchful eye of the general public, yet behind the scenes, he was supposedly frustrated about this understandably daunting prospect and wanted to do a mere 10 shows in London instead, whilst doing various other shows around the world.

The 'King Of Pop' title is a very lofty title indeed and Michael felt that he owed it to his devoted fans to prove why he is widely recognised as the 'King Of Pop'. It was these 50 concerts that were supposed to be his comeback, his final curtain call. Alas, it was not to be. Needless to say, such a heavy burden was placed on a man whose physical health and mental health were never robust to begin with! Even relatively recently this year, Michael appeared to be even more frail than he usually was. Though we contain great strength within us, we also contain great fragility within us as well. With this knowledge in mind, is it truly any wonder that Michael Jackson died of a heart attack? Excessive stress can KILL. That is a universally recognised medical FACT. I hope that the privacy of Michael Jackson's family is respected during these obviously difficult times so that they can not only mourn Michael's death, but also celebrate his life. I am a passionate believer in life after death and I have absolutely NO doubt WHATSOEVER that his consciousness still lives and will continue to do so forevermore. Consciousness is energy and energy can NEVER be created nor destroyed. I hope that Michael Jackson has attained the infinite spiritual bliss which I feel is ultimately the birth-right of ALL living beings. I hope you have now found the true happiness which should be afforded to ALL living beings, Michael Jackson. Thrive in Heaven! Oh, and though I don't really know much about Ed McMahon and Farah Fawcett, I hope that they also thrive in Heaven. I know this is another typically long-winded post from me, but I chose for it to be this way and to dedicate this time and effort in making this post because I love Michael Jackson - warts and all. Farewell for now Michael Jackson, I will ALWAYS remember you!
