Anyone here want Art Mawhinney to come back?

I've always liked Art Mawhinney's artwork. He's a great penciller. If anyone agrees that Art should do more comic segments in the Archie Sonic Comics, make yourselves heard.

INT is crucial for Fighters right?

i really don't like art mawhinney. he was honestly on my worst penciler in STH list, he drew everything too child-like. which is ok, for awhile, but when there's supposed to be a fight scene he doesn't do very well at all. i don't want him back ever personally

Can't say I'm a fan of his art. He doesn't seem to adapt too well to new character designs, and his poses and facial expressions don't have much dynamic or range (not helped by the fact that sometimes everyone ends up with such stumped proportions that their limb movement looks limited - not that I mind the "childish" look so much but rather it tends to make the characters sorta stiff).

I always liked him back in the day, but I'm not sure how well his style would fit the comic now. Wouldn't mind him doing a backup or two though.

Aside from Tracy, who are the regular artists on this book now? Matt Herms, occassionaly Tania del Rio, and Dave Manak when they want something old school? Is that it?

Steven Butler did the Knuckles and Locke Master Emerald convo. a while back. But that was quite a few issues ago.

Other than that, it's just been Tracy. And he's doing the next 3 issues coming out as well.

They really need to give Tracy a break, unless he actually wants the massive workload. He's a good artist and all, but I still wouldn't mind seeing some of the others doing something every now and then.

Except for Mawhinney. I loved the guy back in the day, but now his style's out. It just won't work anymore.

i can't speak for him, but if i was tracy i'd be glad i have such consistent work as an artist. that's how he gets his meal ticket you know.

Well, Matt Hermes was in there too (though Tracy did his layouts once). James Fry I think did the Darkest Storm arc, and there was some apparently one-shot artist who did the backup story about Antoine's dad (though frankly I won't mind if he never comes back - sweet story cursed with off-model art). But yeah, Tracy's got a lot on his plate (not that I doubt he minds, given recent events =P). However, unlike Ron Lim, he seems able to keep up speedy results without sacrificing quality.

Variety's cool too, though.

Since as far as I know, he's working on both Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic X.

Nah. Just keep him doing his children's books. His stuff was always to "Goo-Goo, Gah-Gah" for me.

He's the main reason I didn't get into Sonic comics for awhile. I'd see an enticing cover by Spaz, only to find Art's Care Bear crud on the inside.

that's surprisingly accurate to how i feel. a little too "cuddly" for any serious story.

I liked Mawhinney's art back in the day. He was better than Dave Manak by at least a light year. After the great Adventure conversion however, the dude was pretty much screwed, as his art just doesn't match up with the SA style. Sonic would always end up looking waaaay too pudgy. XD

What I don't understand is why he did'nt just alter the way he drew them. I mean, it honestly could'nt be that hard, all the other artists on the book did it.

It may not be hard to alter, but to succeed is another story. They are artists from issues way back that had tried to draw in that style but never could pull it off. Maybe Art is one of them?

I'll say. She was treated like the Second Coming of Galan when she was hired by Archie, worked on 2-3 books and then... that's it. All I know was that, at the time (and still possibly), she was working as a full-time model so that may be why she dropped out of penciling for the comic.

her early stuff on the comic was pretty good. but it kinda got too bubbly near the end of her run. but she was pretty decent for awhile IMO
