And I know what you're thinking! My first song won't be an Iron Maiden song! =O
(Don't be surprised if future ones are though, lulz).

Simple little game. Simply put, I'll post a song, the next poster listens to it, gives a small comment review and rates it out of 10 (Or whatever system
you want) and posts a song of their choosing. It'll expose other MoFo'ers to our own tastes.

There's a reason Black Sabbath are the fathers of Metal. Great song and awesome guitar. 9 out of 10.
Mine is a pick from my favorite band Modest Mouse - Dramamine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAePJ3cpmn8 Like super heroes, like Roleplaying, then come on over to Earths Mightiest and be the hero your mommy always said you'd be.

I love the Killers' style. They're pretty good, I love "Human". Awesome. 9/10. And 9/10 people on this forum, probably know what THIS song
is. (Hint: The game sucked, but I think the theme is awesome) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYu4dc1SAOU

Um, I can't view it because of some kind of copyright restriction o_O
Sorry =/ Well, here's mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEK59AUtNt8 Iron Maiden - Paschendale This is one of the reasons I love IM so much. While other bands prefer to do songs about living up the rockstar life, getting unlimited amounts of women and drugs, they prefer to stuff that hits closer to the soul. The song is about one of the most unrecognized battles in the history of mankind (Not to mention one of the bloodiest battles ever fought. I believe somewhere around 800k men died in that one battle. Nearly one million dead corpses lying in a battlefield. Imagine that. And no one knows their story as this battle from WWI is rarely talked upon). Lyrically, the song just talks about how war is hell, almost quite literally. And not just a "war is bad, m'kay?" kind of way, but takes you into the frightening and horrifying atmosphere that war itself creates. Some of my favorite lyrical moments of the song (Read: all of it): In a foreign field he lay Lonely soldier, unknown grave On his dying words he prays Tell the world of Paschendale Relive all that he's been through Last communion of his soul Rust your bullets with his tears Let me tell you 'bout his years Laying low in a blood filled trench Kill tim 'til my very own death On my face I can feel the falling rain Never see my friends again In the smoke, in the mud and lead Smell the fear and the feeling of dread Soon be time to go over the wall Rapid fire and the end of us all Whistles, shouts and more gun fire Lifeless bodies hang on barbed wire Battlefield nothing but a bloody tomb Be reunited with my dead friends soon Many soldiers eighteen years Drown in mud, no more tears Surely a war no-one can win Killing time about to begin .... The bodies of ours and our foes The sea of death it overflows In no man's land, God only knows Into jaws of death we go Crucified as if on a cross Allied troops they mourn their loss German war propaganda machine Such before has never been seen Swear I heard the angels cry Pray to god no more may die So that people know the truth Tell the tale of Paschendale Cruelty has a human heart Every man does play his part Terror of the men we kill The human heart is hungry still I stand my ground for the very last time Gun is ready as I stand in line Nervous wait for the whistle to blow Rush of blood and over we go Blood is falling like the rain Its crimson cloak unveils again The sound of guns can't hide their shame And so we die on Paschendale Dodging shrapnel and barbed wire Running straight at the cannon fire Running blind as I hold my breath Say a prayer symphony of death .... See my spirit on the wind Across the lines, beyond the hill Friend and foe will meet again Those who died at Paschendale Not only does it depict in chilling fashion the unfortunate fates of those who suffered fatal deaths at the merciliess battlefield, but the music itself reincoforces the lyrics so much to the point that I almost feel like the departed souls of those who died are crying out the lyrics themselves. Not to mention this bit is live, showing just what this band can do in a live setting. |
