I've noticed that thing for the past couple of years and I must ask.
Does it do anything? I mean, if I unclick it, will I be modded for off-topic?

I think it's so you can see your message as soon as you post. I think unchecking takes you to the subforum's main page.
**tests** Yeah, it kicks you to the main page. Keeping it checked, you can see your post without having to click back into the thread.
